Training Courses

Black Duck Corporation offers training for law enforcement, government agencies, corporations, armed and unarmed security.  Training may be conducted at our 2,200 square foot facility in New Bern, North Carolina; or Black Duck Corporation will travel to your location.  Additionally, tailored designed course can be developed for your needs.  Many of the courses offered by Black Duck Corporation require the participant to provide a "fit for duty" certification due to the intensity of the training. 

The Black Duck Corporation uses a variety of products in its' training division. We do not sell nor endorse any particular product or manufacturer.
 

In Depth Gang Awareness and Investigations: 8 Hours

This course covers not only the basics of gang identification but will look in depth at the history of certain gangs, identifying characteristics and what the common gang symbols mean.  Much of the information in this class is gathered from gang members and their “knowledge” of what they consider that a “Tru Gangsta” would know.  Participants will learn tattoo recognition on gang members.  This class covers African American street gangs, Asian gangs, Hispanic gangs, Outlaw Motorcycle gangs and The 5%ers The Nation of Gods and Earths.  Course of Instruction includes; but is not limited to: 

1. Gang overview,  2.  African American Street Gangs,  3.  Hispanic Street Gangs, 4. Asian Gangs, 5.  Five Percenters (The Nation of God’s and Earth), 
6. Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs (1%ers),  7.  Gang Investigation (Case Preparation),  8.  Gang Investigation (Field Interviews and Traffic Stops), 9.  Officer Safety,  10.  Interpreting Graffiti.

 

  • Population of Interest: 
    Patrol Officers, Criminal Investigators, Intelligence Divisions, Organized Crime Task Force Units,  Probation/Parole Officers, Correctional Officers assigned to Intelligence and Security Threat Groups (STG)

 

This training is designed for the participant to obtain unique and specialized training to achieve the ability to conduct a rural/woodland operation and learn the art of invisibility in a woodland environment.  Course topics include:  Operational Planning, Camouflage Techniques, Prior Intelligence of Target Assessment, Safety Issues, Infiltration and Exfiltration Techniques, Hide Site Construction, Equipment Needs, and Surveillance Strategies.  This is a hands-on training exercise conducted under arduous conditions.  Participants should possess a working knowledge of video equipment. 

Participants must provide an employer's "fit for duty" certification.

 
  • Population of Interest:
    Narcotic Investigators, Private Investigators primarily engaged
     in surveillance. 
    This course is not offered to the general public. 

     

This training will provide the participant the knowledge of proper planning methods and techniques for conducting a successful foot, vehicle and stationary surveillance operation in an urban setting.  Participants will receive instruction on:  Operational Planning, Concealment Techniques, Prior Intelligence of Target Assessment, Safety Issues, Infiltration and Exfiltration Techniques, Equipment Needs, Personnel and Surveillance Strategies.   This is a hands-on training exercise conducted under arduous conditions.  Participants should possess a working knowledge of video equipment.

 

Participants must provide an employer's "fit for duty" certification.

 
  • Population of Interest
    Narcotic Investigators, Organized Crime Investigators,
    Private Investigators primarily engaged in surveillance. 
    This course is not offered to the general public. 

 

This course is designed for law enforcement officers and K-9 Units to learn and evaluate tracking techniques which will lead to the apprehension of armed and dangerous fugitives.  An arduous and taxing course which teaches: Land Navigation, Man Tracking Techniques, Dog Team Formations, Tactical/Cover Team Movement, Cover/Concealment and Camouflage, Line and Road March Formations, Officer Safety Issues, Identifying and Crossing Danger Areas, Team Hand-Offs, Rally Points, Nonverbal Communications, Proper Law Enforcement Identification in a Tactical Environment.  This is a mentally and physically stressful course.  

  • Population of Interest: 
    Law Enforcement/K-9 Units/Corrections. 
    Requires a fit for duty certification from participants employer

Terrorism Awareness For Law Enforcement: 8 Hours

 

This course covers not only the basics of domestic and international terrorism but will give officers an up close and personal view of the terrorist enemies of America today. Starting with an in depth dissection of terrorist organizations, their past and present operations giving officers a better understanding and capacity to deal with future attacks within the United States.   Is your prison or jail a recruiting ground for Terrorism?  Are the gangs in your neighborhoods a recruiting ground for Terrorism?  Do you have a plan for your family when you are called to duty during a terrorist attack?  This class covers the most important aspects of terrorism that every officer needs to know. 

 

Course of Instruction includes; but is not limited to: 

 

1.  General overview of terrorism,  2.  Al Qaeda and the Taliban,  3.  Finance,  4. Structure and Organization,  5.  The New Domestic Terrorism,  6. Identification of local vulnerabilities,  7. Officer Safety (Focus on the  Family)

 

 

 

Protective Services Detail Protection of Designated  Personnel : 40 hrs

Terminal Learning Objective:

1)      Without the aid of reference, demonstrate a basic understanding of
the planning  and execution of Protective Service  Operations.

2)     Without the aid of  reference, perform basic tasks as team member of
a Protective Services  Detail.

Enabling Learning  Objectives:


1)     Employ advanced  armed and unarmed close-quarter combat skills as a
Personal Security  Officer.

2)     Command and control Protective  Services Detail operations as a PSD
Shift  Leader.

3)     Develop heightened awareness as  a protective team member

4)     Employ  advanced  close-quarter combat skills and escalation of
force as an Inner  Cordon Team Member

5)     Deploy a defensive  perimeter for static or mobile operations as an
Outer Cordon Team  Member

6)     Conduct route and zone  reconnaissance as an Advance Team Member. 

7)     Develop and Employ Counter-Surveillance  Tactics

8)     Deny physical access and  surveillance to High Risk Personnel as a
Protective Services Vehicle Operator. 

9)     Plan and supervise PSD operations as  Mission Special Agent in Charge.
